Jake is an aspiring cinematographer and documentary filmmaker with a strong interest in visually driven, human-centred storytelling. His work explores how cinematography can shape perspective, evoke emotion, and encourage prosocial behaviour across documentary and other factual and creative formats.
He is particularly interested in using documentary to give a voice to the unheard, and strongly advocates for the importance of cinematography. His first documentary The Discarded addressed stereotypes around homelessness, using considered choices to bridge the gap between audience and subject, fostering empathy through visuals.
As a recent university graduate, Jake is keen to develop his craft by building a diverse portfolio, experimenting with different styles, formats, and production environments. Long-term, he aims to work internationally as a cinematographer on socially engaged projects, contributing to films that promote understanding, dignity, and positive change.
He is interested in any production opportunities, and is open to working with people and organisations who share the belief that cinematography plays a valuable role in engaging audiences.
